Hour 20 – In the Home Stretch

This is Kate from Kate’s Book Nook and I will be your cohost for the rest of the readathon! Are you excited??? I know I am! I want to start of with a brief explanation of how I will be setting up these posts for the FINAL FIVE HOURS!!!! Every hours, I am going to post a book related meme, video, and random fact. I think it adds a little bit of fun for these final few hours. In the lead up to the read-a-thon, I wrote a post including tips on how to get through these final few hours. You can check it out here, if you want to take a look on how to stay alert.

Let me introduce myself to you really quick. I am a rather odd mix of hobbies. I love German Soccer (specifically Bayern Munich) with a passion and will often force myself out of bed at 6:30 on a Saturday morning to watch their games. I am a cross stitching addict and currently have over 50 patterns started. I have also recently taken up crochet. I love tv and watch way too much of it (curse you Hulu). I have two part time jobs (math tutor and a subpoena records copier). I am also a cheese addict. I love cheese. During readathons, I allow myself to splurge and buy some of the more expensive cheeses as a treat. Now that you know a little bit more about me, I would love to know a little more about you! So please leave a comment and tell me some of your quirks and what makes you unique.

A big shout out to our cheerleaders!!! You guys have been fantastic! Next time we should have cheerleaders for our cheerleaders! But in all seriousness, thanks so much for cheering all of us readers on and cohosts on. You give us the strength to push past the weariness and keep reading! Goodness knows how much a “new comment” notice brightens up a persons day.

Video of the Hour:

Last readathon(and more recently, Andi in this readathon), I introduced you to The Lizzie Bennett Diaries. This month, they started a new series called Emma Approved. This one is a modern vlog retelling of Emma by Jane Austen. Only two videos are out, so it isn’t too late to start watching!

Random Fact of the Hour:

  •  In the novel Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo, you will find one of the longest sentences. It has a total of 823 words.
  • Sherlock Holmes never said ‘Elementary, my dear Watson.’

    1. @Jenn and the Cats – As a Bayern fan I can only say “We are the champions, my friends. And we’ll keep on fighting till the end. Because we are the champions. We are the champions of the world.” hahaha. I am still on Treble High (Champions League, Bundesliga, and DFB Pokal Cup winners).

    1. @Stacy’s Book – I hope the link works now. I updated it. So sorry about that. Every time I co-host, I try to post book related random facts. It gets harder and harder to find new ones every time.

  1. Bayern rocks! Very strong squad, very attractive football, very clever management. Generally, I have antipathy toward big teams but Bayern is an exception.

    1. @Tim – YAY, I know. I love them. The other club I watch is a bit smaller (Schalke). Not an unknown, but certainly not powerful.

  2. this is my first readathon and I love it! My family has been accommodating and encouraging. Had a 1.5hr nap and I’m back. Less than 4 hours left – I should be good to stay on until then! … hopefully. Thanks to the founder Dewey, the organizers and the countless helpers!!
