Hour 1 – Good morning! (Or afternoon! Or evening!)

Sleepy cat gif!

Gooooooood morning, readathoners! If it is not morning where you are, then good afternoon! Good evening! Good night! Are you pumped for a 24 hour reading extravaganza? There will be snacks! Mini-challenges! Cheerleaders! BOOKS! (I know, I had you at snacks.)

This is Lu from Regular Rumination and you’ll be hearing from me and a few other cohosters throughout the day. Before you dive into your reading, how about some questions so we can get to know you better? Yes? Yes.

Introductory Questionnaire

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

Here are my answers:

1) The big apple!

3) We are having homemade fried rice for dinner! Also grapes.
4) Let’s see… during the day I sell books at a publishing house, I love to obsessively watch television shows on Netflix and, obviously, I love to read.
5) I have sporadically participated in readathons throughout the years, but like I said earlier, I’m just going to wing it today.

Sign up with your first post of the day below and have a fantabulous readathon!

What? I though I’m supposed to be reading!
Ok, so… I love books and reading. D-oh, I know. I love my Kindle, it’s a great invention — I travel a lot, for work and privately, so schlepping along a ton of books has always been a hassle. I used to be active on BookCrossing and I still register all my real books, but other than that don’t spend a lot of time over there. Most of my real books I get though Bookmooch. Or I buy them cheaply second hand on Amazon. I have some series I love to read, those are pretty much the only new books I shell out money for.
I love cats, I love food, I like to drink wine and I am slowly turning into a whisky fan (Scottish single malts).

    5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
It’s my second read-a-thon and I failed miserably at my first, mostly because there was a long night of open museums and galleries in town and I spent the evening there with some friends. So I was away at first and then incredibly tired. I didn’t actually get a lot of reading done. The plan for this time around is to simply make it to the end with as much reading as possible. I plan to take frequent breaks though, it should still be fun.

This in my fifth read-a-thon (wow!) and the last one was the worst one ever for me because my mom wanted to go look at wedding dresses and it was also the day of an epic Michigan State football game so I hardly read at all. I’m gonna be way more serious about this one.
