This is it! The last stretch! The final hour! Thank you all for staying with us and making another Readathon such a success. Before you close up shop, make sure to do the end-of-event meme and give yourself a cheer for completing the Superbowl of bibliomania. See you all in six months!

    Just finished my 5th book!! Woohoo. Took so much longer this time because I my eyes were so tired. I had to take longer breaks but I’m still here!! :D I did better this time around. This was my second readathon. I will be back in April. :D Special cheers to all the volunteers. Everyone was fantastic!! :)

    1. I have to say that I really hit the wall at around hour 19 – 20. My eyes were tired and my brain was getting tired of reading. I had to take more breaks.

    2. Well, I read two spoofs of mysteries this year to mix things up and that really helped me out. Laughing recharges the batteries.

    3. Nope. Everyone was magnificent.

    4. The Cheerleaders were fantastic as always. I loved all the videos. I didn’t check in every hour but I would look at them when I did.

    5. I read 5 books :D

    6. I read Good Counsel by Tim Junkin, Ham Bones by Carolyn Haines, Animal Farm by George Orwell, Agatha Raisin And The Case Of The Curious Curate by M.C. Beaton and Room by Emma Donoghue.

    7. Agathat Raisin was hilarious with a great mystery to boot. It is part of a series and I am going to read it now.

    8. I loved them all but I think next time I will have more comedies for later on. I should have gone to the library and downloaded a couple of funny ones when I was tired.

    9. Nothing they were fantastic!!

    10. You bet I’ll be back! I might like to be a cheerleader. That way I could help and still participate. Work my way up into more responsibility.

    I cannot believe I’m awake again, and eager to read some more… I wrote a “Reading My Eyelids, goodnight” post at 2AM, and now I’m back. Hungry, weirdly awake, and curious who stayed up how late and read what!

    5 am (16 hours) was when I lost it and just had to sleep for a while.
    Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
    Any of the Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews.
    Kresley Cole’s Immortals after Dark series kept me interested too.
    Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
    I dunno, maybe have options for group reads, so people can share the experience.
    And a way to find out what everybody else’s reading would be nice too.

    It was all good. Liked many of the mini challenges.

    Almost 3. Less than a quarter remaining of the 3rd one and I’m continuing with it.
    What were the names of the books you read?
    I read Hereafter by Tara Hudson, then A hunger like no other by Kresley Cole and then started John dies at the end by David Wong.
    Which book did you enjoy most?
    I’d say the last one.
    Which did you enjoy least?
    None, I chose them carefully so my interest wouldn’t wander.
    If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
    None, they did a great job.
    How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

    I’ll answer the questions here, as I don’t think I’ll write my Read-a-Thon wrap-up post today and I want to answer these. Let us begin.

    1. Probably Hour 18. I was exhausted, lost most of the interest I had for the book and I drank my last mouthful of Pepsi. Tragedy & Travesty. :(
    2. The Mastership Game by Scott McBain and Villa Amalia by Pascal Quidnard. They’re brilliant. Oh, and Terry Pratchett.
    3. Yeah, if we could have three Read-a-Thons a year it would be fantastic. :D Heck, let’s go monthly!
    4. I loved the hourly posts here. The cohosts were awesome.
    5. Three. Not as many as others, but I’m proud of myself.
    6. The Diving Bell & The Butterfly; Villa Amalia and Grimus.
    7. Definitely Villa Amalia, it had some great turns of phrase that I’m now obsessed with and it was just the right sort of depressing, you know? It probably doesn’t make sense, but let’s play along.
    8. Definitely Grimus. It took me probably a combined 10 to 12 hours to finish it.
    9. N/A.
    10. There’s no way in Hell I’m ever missing a Read-a-Thon. It’s the reading equivalent of NaNoWrimo, for me. I’ll probably try to host a mini challenge again. Maybe.

    I had loads of books that I was in the process of finishing but kept adding more to the “currently reading” list. I used the read-a-thon to wrap up a lot of my current reading projects and add in some short fiction as well. I’m sure some people read more than me but I read at least 500 pages. A write up on my blog will be up within the hour. Good fun! I’m definitely doing them in the future. I agree that they’re a bit like NaNoWriMo. I was in a reading slump–now I feel rejuvenated!

    This was my first attempt doing a readathon and the first word I can think of to say is “WOW”! I have had a great experience, everything was nothing like I imagine.

    Thanks to my daughter Alexis (reflectionsofabookaholic) who encourage me to do it and continued to encourage me every step of the way.

    Thank you to those of you put this together, you all did a great job! Thank you cheerleaders who cheered me on.

    My goal was to finish 3 books but unfortunately I only finish 2 but it’s okay, I plan on finishing it later today after a little sleep.

    I highly recommend a planned nap for a few hours in the wee morning time, but the downside of that is that I got just enough sleep that I’m wide awake now that it’s over and really need to get a few more hours of sleep in to make the day worthwhile! lol! Especially since it’s now daylight outside!

    Great read-a-thon everyone, can’t wait until April! In a day or two I’ll start thinking about what books I want to read then, I’m hopelessly addicted!

    Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? The Maze Runner Trilogy by James Dashner. Very fast paced and engaging. I couldn’t put the last book down.
    2. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? There weren’t a lot of variety of prizes. I wish there had been more YA books to chose from. Maybe there could be more incentive for donating prizes this year, like traffic to your blog somehow? Oh, and a special badge for your blog if you stay awake all 24-hours!!!
    3. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? It felt very organized. I especially liked the list of readers who were participating.

    It was my first time to sign up as a cheerleader yet it wasn’t very hard for me coz I’ve met so many angels who inspired me to keep on cheering. Prior to joining, I didn’t have any idea that cheering people could actually be difficult at some point. But I forged ahead.
