Reader Sign-Ups October ’11 Read-A-Thon

It’s here! It’s here! Sign-ups are here! But sign-ups look a little different. Harumph.

We’ve decided to go the Google Form route this year because a lot of you have requested to be emailed a reminder. With the previous Mr. Linky set-up, we’ve been unable to do so. And the previous set-up was difficult for people without blogs or webpages. If you input your email address, you will receive a reminder email on October 17th, the Monday before the Read-A-Thon. Your email will NOT be saved for future use. Your name linked to your blog/webpage will be published again to aid cheerleaders and mini-challenges, so please be sure to use a name or pseudonym that we can publish on 24hourreadathon.com.

The Read-A-Thon starts at Noon GMT, Saturday, October 22nd.

And while online participation is a huge part of the Read-A-Thon experience, it is not required. So this year, we’ll be placing forms for those who do not blog/tweet/Facebook to be able to participate in some mini-challenges and breaks, per requests from the April ’11 Read-A-Thon. These will be experimental, so please bear with us during our trials!

If there are any bloggers that are able, we would love it if you could post an announcement that you’re reading in the ‘thon with a link to this sign-up post, and encourage your readers to participate. If you’re not comfortable doing that, please consider snagging one of our buttons and placing it somewhere on your blog, or create your own! If you’re not comfortable with that, we’re still cool, no worries. *wink*

Thanks everyone! We’re really looking forward to the October ’11 Read-A-Thon!

Also, if you’re available to volunteer, we’d love to have your help. Check out the volunteer sign-ups if you’re interested with helping out with Cohosting, Marketing, Prizes or Prize Angels, Mini-Challenges, or the ever-important Cheerleaders!

  1. Sadly cannot join you this time as the 22nd is a milestone birthday for me and I’ll have a house full along with a big birthday party taking place.

Still will return for 2012 outings. Have fun and will certainly check in and see how it went.

  2. I can’t wait!
Hey, can I reach out to any fellow participants who are tech-savvy?
I’d love to get something set up so we can enter our book titles and organize them to see who’s reading what genres, and I could use a hand setting up the forms the right way.

If you’re interested in playing with the data, send me an email at ewillse AT Gmail Dot Com.

    Thanks!

  3. I just signed up…twice. My apologies. Kindly consider my 2nd sign up as the first one contained a typo error in the blog URL.

    Thanks.

By the way, I am excited. :D

  4. This is one of my favorite events. I’m already planning what I want to read. I like to make it books that are special along with some quick and easy ones for those last few hours. Happy Read-A-Thon to everyone.

  5. 2nd time participating. I’m excited because I don’t have to work this time like I did last time which means more time to participate! I’ll be spreading the news on my blog and everywhere I can :-)

  6. I’m so glad that Amanda did a vlog about it…it helped remind me…and I put it on my calendar. This will be interesting now that we have a baby in the house.

  7. Wendy, I just meant I hadn’t seen a comment from you, since that’s the only way the participants can tell who has signed up (until the list is published). I do miss Mr. Linky and watching the numbers grow as people sign up.

  8. This is my first time participating in the read-a-thon and I was wondering if you have a PDF sheet about the read-a-thon I could hand out at my next book club meeting this Saturday.
    Thanks

  9. I never received an email reminder on Monday, October 17 so I am signing up again. I am worried my signup didn’t go through the first time. I sure miss old Mr. Linky! Sorry if my signup shows up twice.

  10. Am sad to be missing out. As an Aussie my start time would be at 11pm on the Sat night and I have a BBQ lunch to go to on the Sun. Not that a night and day…and then another night spent reading and Tweeting wouldn’t be a great way to start my holidays. Oh well, next year. Good luck all!

  11. I’m a last minute joiner too. Looking forward to the reading, as I am having a gift card giveaway too, which should make things easy for me. Thank you.

  12. OK– so how can I see the 402 other readers? I’d like to visit their blogs and cheer them on. Well, not *ALL* of them, but at least a few of them.

  13. Pretty sure I signed up before but did not see my name on the “Cheerleader List” so I have re-signed up…hopefully that will work! Sorry about the confusion…ready for read-a-thon!

  14. Everything from cookies to cakes to muffins, pancakes and
dessert bars can be made with chia gel as your butter
replacement. Although it’s fun to watch the seeds grow, have you ever considered eating them. Each ounce also provides almost 5000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids.

  15. Whatsoever kind of company you want to build your site regarding,
essentially the most probably hardest choice is to find a web hosting service firm.

One needs to do through investigation before reaching to any form of conclusion.
On the other hand, Host – Gator will receive a long-term client.
