Welcome! And Hour 1
Let the reading begin!
I’m Shesten from I Heart Monster and I will be your host for the first four hours of this fabulous reading frenzy!
The first order of business is to tell us a little bit about yourself.
1)Where are you reading from today?
2)Three random facts about me…
3)How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
4)Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
5)If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
I’ll answer them here:
1) Mesa, Arizona, USA.
2) a. I have six cats. b. I am 5’11″. c. I ♥ the Spice Girls (and Monster).
3) one, and I’ll be lucky to finish it!
4) finish Devil’s Kiss by Sarwat Chadda.
5) Plan. Take breaks. Participate in the Mini-Challenges, they’re a nice break. Get a Twitter account if you don’t have one.
Copy these questions to your blog, to Twitter, or to Facebook, then sign the linky below to let us know you’re awake, alive, and reading. Two random participants in the Introduction Meme will be chosen to receive prizes. After you’ve introduced yourselves, get in gear and power through those pages, baby! We did address some light housekeeping last night, and you’ll want to read those notes at some point during the Read-A-Thon if you haven’t already.
Also, don’t forget we still need donations from Prize Angels to help us get prizes where they need to go, for all of our international participants. Consider donating a dollar if you can spare it.

Sherrion 09 Apr 2011 at 4:22 am 14Hey, I’m Sherri from The Passionate Bookcrossing Blog http://sherrisue76.blogspot.com/ .
1. Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, USA.
b. I have about 300 some books on my tbr list. c. I love chocolate and anything fattening! Makes it so hard to diet, lol!
2. a. I love cats but have to visit other’s since we can’t have any
3. I have fourteen books on my tbr pile. Five actual books and the rest on my kindle.
4. I’d like to finish around 4-7 books today and maybe get about 1,000 pages read to help for my pages read challenge on bookcrossing. I’ll try to comment and do a few challenges if I can.
5. Pace yourself and take plenty of breaks. Also have the snackage lined up! Don’t go to crazy. I had trouble paying attention last year to sit and acctually read what I had to. I just took my time and did the best I could. This year I have a kindle so that will help me a lot since I’m a fairly slow reader.

Mineola Memorial Libraryon 09 Apr 2011 at 7:14 am 60Hi everyone!
Our library is in Mineola, TX and Chessie is our beloved library cat. We are on a different time zone, and could only begin the Read-a-thon at 12noon CST. We will be logging in as a group and posting what all our members are reading. We are very excited about this event and have the popcorn popper ready and plenty of cold drinks on hand. Around midnight we will break out pizza for a midnight snack and in the morning we will have doughnuts and coffee. This is a FUN way to bring our community together to celebrate reading!!

I just read one at a time, and right now I’m reading Michael Kimball’s US.
4)Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
No goals, just want to see what happens when I stay conscious of reading and getting to the many books I’ve been wanting to read, not to mention the many that have been assigned to me for book reviews.
5)If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
I’m a first timer so open to all advice.

Joanna @ A Worn Pathon 09 Apr 2011 at 4:23 pm 721) Where: My own little house in rural Tennessee. Our southern weather has been fabulous today (highs in the 80s), so I have been outside a fair amount, in between reading!
2) 3 Random Facts: (1) I am a middle school Language Arts teacher. (2) I have a minor in Women’s Studies, and female southern authors are my passion when it comes to linking that academic interest to reading. (3) I also really like cooking & fashion, so if I didn’t have a book blog, I would probably have a blog about one of those things! (Actually I do have a cooking blog, but it is painfully neglected most of the time.)
3) Books: My Wife’s Affair by Nancy Woodruff; The Help by Kathryn Stockett; Catfish Alley by Lynne Bryant; and Semi-Sweet by Roisin Meaney.
4) Goals: None! Just to read.
5) Advice: I’ve only participated once or twice before. I would say just have fun with it; don’t panic if you can’t read the whole time (as I did my first time).
