Sign-up for the October 9, 2010 Read-a-thon!
Aug 28th 2010trishOctober 2010
Can you believe it’s time for another read-a-thon?! I’m so excited! The read-a-thon means homemade cinnamon rolls and general junk food goodness. Mmm…
Anyway, the second read-a-thon this year is set for Saturday, October 9th. We’re already gearing up, so this read-a-thon is going to rock.
The Read-a-thon will start: October 9th at 5am Pacific (1pm GMT). You can click over to the start times page to check the starting time in your timezone. Remember that if it’s more convenient to you, you could start either earlier or later, as well as participate for only part of the 24 hours. Very few people make it through the entire 24-hour period without sleeping, so don’t let that discourage you! Sleep is definitely allowed.
For more information on the Read-a-thon, you can read our FAQ. If you have a question that isn’t answered there, you can leave us a comment or e-mail DeweyReadathon at gmail. We’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible!
Sign ups for being a cheerleader will be posted soon, as well as sign ups for hosting a mini-challenge. If you’re new to the read-a-thon and are wondering what these mini-challenge things are, please check our FAQ!
Also, if you’d like to donate a prize, please e-mail us at DeweyReadathon at gmail. It’d be very much appreciated! Here’s a list of the prizes donated for the April 2010 Read-a-thon in case you’re wondering what to donate. Anyone can donate prizes!
Another thing you can do: Grab a button from the FAQ page, display it proudly, and help us spread the word.
Go ahead and sign up!

RachelCabbiton 13 Sep 2010 at 11:20 am 70This will be my 2nd readathon. This time I am back home in England instead of in Japan so my book selection is a LOT larger
I also have soo much compulsary reading for my English Lit modules, a readathon is just what I need to try and get through that pile. Alas, it is mainly Dickens so I cannot see me getting through many books
But yay for trying!
Melissa W.on 15 Sep 2010 at 12:16 am 71Can you guys do on in early November? I can’t attend the one in October due to the fact that I have Thanksgiving obligations.
Melissa W.on 15 Sep 2010 at 12:37 am 72I’ll see how much I can do. It also depends if I can get internet service (it has tendency to go down for a period of time or its not working) fully cooperating. I can’t promise much, though, as I will be required to have regular meals and there won’t be a lot of coffee provided when I need it. I suppose Coke will work just as well, as I had one at around 8:30/9 pm Pacific and its now about 1:37 am and I am fully awake. I guess I can get the Starbucks VIA before I leave and use that as my caffeine source at around 3 am.
Amyon 15 Sep 2010 at 6:13 pm 73My first read-a-thon – I’m just looking for an excuse to read as much as I secretly want to every day. I’m going to try and get some kind of charity sponsorship hookup so it doesn’t seem so self-indulgent.
Looking forward to it!

HAPPY readings!!!

Kate- Midnight Book Girlon 17 Sep 2010 at 2:00 pm 79I can’t wait! Lilyon 24 Sep 2010 at 8:23 am 101This will be my second read-a-thon, and I am SO excited.
The last read-a-thon ended up having a pretty huge impact on my life, actually. All through my childhood I was a voracious reader, but during college I was so busy that I fell out of the habit, and my booklessness continued even after graduation. Participating in the read-a-thon reintroduced me to the joys of reading…I’ve been devouring books again ever since! : D

I don’t have a blog, I signed up using my Twitter page. I hope that’s okay. I used to have a book blog, but gave it up when I decided I wasn’t able to find the joy in reading when I felt obligated to review every book, read certain kinds of books, etc. I hope to start up blogging once I feel more comfortable with it. Now I blather on about books over at my Twitter page (@notarevolution).
