If you have any readathon questions, comments, concerns, or links to humorous videos, you can email deweyreadathon @ gmail . com or tweet @readathon, and I will do my best to respond quickly and with minimal use of exclamation points.

(This song is in my head and won’t leave, so I thought I’d share it with all of you. You’re welcome.)

So I’ll just keep it for myself, if that’s ok. This has been enjoyable but also frenzied. *wipes sweat from brow*

So! What do I have for you this hour?

First, MORE WINNERS!

CERI from a book between

EMILY from books and threads

Second, NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO WIN, of course!

Vicki is asking you to be literary detectives and match authors to their pseudonyms. (I can’t tell you how many times I typed that before I spelt it right).

We also still have MORE PRIZES on offer by reading together with Tami and Dave and top 5 with Lisa.

AND NOW! I leave you in the capable hands of Nat from reading romances. Then I am going to totally cheatathon by putting baby to bed, watching X factor, going to sleep and joining you all again for the home straight.

HOUR SIX! You are still there, right?

Get through this hour, my friends and that will be a QUARTER DOWN! (It will, right? My maths is not that bad.) Thank you for saying nice thinks about the Nugget. She does indeed have quite the mohawk. Who knows where that comes from.

So, what’s going on? Are you reading in the silence so you don’t get distracted, or are you all about the choooooons? I have been listening to Amy Winehouse’s first album, Frank. Also, Florence and the Machine. Love that pagan wailing. Do you have a favourite book/album combination?

This hour’s random picture is of Bruce Springsteen. Because tramps like us, baby, we were born to read.

I haz more winners for you!

Anna is the winner of Alyce’s mini challenge on character pictures.

And some prizes for our fantastic cheerleaders! Thank you Erin and Trish for picking these. If you haven’t seen Trish’s cheerleading video yet, you really should.

CHRIS (nerf reader)
AMY (home of Aimila)
JULIE (knitting and sundries)
MAUIE (the travelling reader)

Visit the prize page, my friends, and you shall be richly rewarded. Please send your postal address to deweyreadathon at gmail dot com.

AND! I haz a new challenge. Go see Lisa and assemble sentences from book titles. Probably best for those of you who are not befuddled from lack of sleep. This one is US only.

You can also still be book puzzling with Melissa, picking states with other Melissa, and sharing books with Tami and Dave. Competition piles upon competition, you guys. I need a lie down to cope with the pace.

Hour Five: Welcome to London!

BIIIIIIIGGGGG KLAAAAAAAXON NOOOOOOIIIIIISSSSEEEE WHOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Too much?

Sorry. Let’s try again.

Hello! I’m Lyndsey, of www.teadevotee.com and @teadevotee cohosting y’all from sunny, beautiful, autumnal north London. It’s 5pm here, perfect reading time and all going well.

Here I am.

I don’t look this today though. Yes I am wearing my pyjamas. Who isn’t? I wish I had that icecream though.

This is my first time cohosting, so please be nice, you guys. Tell me if I’m doing anything particularly moronic. And if I flake out for a minute, bear with me. Also I have a fifteen week old daughter in the next room and though she is being looked after perfectly well by her Dad, she may need me for a bit. Please forgive her, because she looks like this:

OK! The semi-serious stuff!

Mini Challenge Alert! This hour’s challenge is brought to you by Tami and Dave and is all about sharing the joy of books. Which is also what the readathon, and indeed book blogging is all about, so. Perfect. Head on over to find out more.

Also, if you are in the US, you can still be a book-puzzling over with Melissa, or picking books that evoke particular states with other Melissa. (Heh. That’s confusing. Good job I’m hosting early). Character pictures with Alyce is done now, and I’ll post winners next hour.

And! I have spun the wheel of random joy to find this hour’s winners:

FLORA (a work in progress) DAISY (between the pages) and PAULINA AND KATE (two canadian readers). Four for the price of three! Splendid.

UPDATE! Thanks guys for telling me the link wasn’t working. See, I told you I was a moron. It is sorted now.

I’m handing the reins over to Lyndsey now and going to take a nap. But I’ll be back later. Watch out for me this evening, and Rock This ‘Thon, Yo!

But really.

Okay, okay. I’ll stop now.

But can we at least Rock This Party Bob Sinclair style?

Sorry. I probably needed that more than you did. ’Cause you guys are RAD! But those kids! They’re just too funny.

Hour 2: Pinspirational

How’s everyone doing?

It’s only Hour 2 and I’m having a hard time keeping up with you guys! I guess I’m gonna have to grab a nap whilst one of your other awesome cohosts keeps the ‘thon alive this afternoon since I have yet to sleep at all tonight/this morning, oh my… it’s all running together.

And can I also remark on how swiftly things change in the interwebs? Six months ago when I was hosting for you guys, I scoured YouTube for funny and inspirational videos to link to so that you’d get a bit of spunk. Today, I’m finding myself scouring Pinterest instead. *sigh* The wonderful, wonderful Pinterest. Where you find awesome stuff like:

Hour 1: Let’s Get This Party Started!

A little wisdom from one of my favorite poets!

Yay! Read-A-Thon!

I’m Shesten from I Heart Monster and I’ll be hosting sporadically throughout the day. A few housekeeping notes before we get started:

  • We’re trying to keep track of what everyone is reading (some find this fascinating, others educational, and others even find it useful), so if you wouldn’t mind stopping by after you’ve read a few books or after each book, or after the ‘thon is over, and filling in your information into the form at the left, we’d appreciate it!
  • We’ve created an offsite list of readers, so if you would like to see the full list of sign-ups, click the readers tally next to the cheerleaders tally on the left-hand pane.
  • During Hour 20, the host, Anastasia, will post a linky and ask you guys who are still reading to sign it so that the cheerleaders can skip those who are no longer reading. Make sure you stop in if you want the cheering to continue!
  • Now, let’s get this party started, shall we? *busts out in Black Eyed Peas song* *thinks better of it*

As per tradition, we start with an introduction meme, letting everyone know who we are and whatnot. Copy the questions below into your post/status/tweet and link us back to one of them in the linky below. This way, our cheerleaders know you’re awake and participating, and so do us cohosts. Wipe that sleep outta your eyes and tell us what’s up!

The first order of business is to tell us a little bit about yourself.

1)Where are you reading from today?
    2)Three random facts about me…
3)How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
4)Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
5)If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?

    Here’re my answers:

    1) Mesa, Arizona, United States
    2) a)I pickled a half a peck of peppers yesterday morning.
    b) I’m a fifth generation Arizonan. (we’re rare)
    c) I ♥ Morcheeba (and Monster)
    3) Uno. I would love to finish Miles From Ordinary by Carol Lynch Williams, but am skeptical.
    4) I want to comment on fifty blogs today. *fingers crossed*
    5) Turn off comment moderation on your blog just for the day. It helps out the cheerleaders and fellow readers a ton.

Now see, wasn’t that easy peasy? Get to it! And start that book!
