HOUR 24!

Ummm, it is HOUR 24! You should be jumping up and down and squealing for joy if you have made it this far. I’ll wait while you do that.

But can you believe that there is just one more hour to go? It means that the end is near and that you have survived another readathon! Bravo to you!

Personally, I cannot wait to crawl back into bed, so I am sure that I will be doing that sooner rather than later (I do have to work in…5 hours). But it has been a blast spending the last few hours with you guys. You are all great! I am so proud that so many of you chose to stay up the whole time!

Mini-Challenges

The mini-challenge for this hour is to fill out the end of event survey and link it back here. We’ll choose a winner later on! Here are the questions you need to answer:

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
5. How many books did you read?
6. What were the names of the books you read?
7. Which book did you enjoy most?
8. Which did you enjoy least?
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

Winners Announced

We have a winner from the Picturrific contest. Congrats to Vamps R Us! Pick a prize from the prize list and email your choice to Vasilly at 1330vblog at gmail.

Hour 12: Mid-Event Meme

Aw, this is my final hour as cohost. :( I’m terribly upset, so I’ve decided to post this MST3K video to cheer myself– and, by extension, you guys– up.

More important than Blast Hardcheese, you’re now officially halfway through the readathon! Congratulations, everyone! You’re doing SO awesome, and I know you can keep up the momentum. Read lots, take breaks, drink water and dance often!

Mini-Challenges
Yay, I get to host the mid-event survey! Post your answers at your blog and then come back here to leave your link.

Mid-Event Survey:
1. What are you reading right now?
2. How many books have you read so far?
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?
9. Are you getting tired yet?
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?

Sign the linky below with a link to your post with your answers. There will be 4 winners: 1st gets 1 prize packs of books, along with chocolate coins, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th get three books of their choice. This is only open until the beginning of Hour 14.

Hour 11

I always advocate getting up and dancing around to loosen up the limbs after a few hours of reading. This next video will definitely get you into a groove– a futuristic one!

The band that made this video is called The Gregory Brothers, and they normally play a sort of alternative country/rock/soul…somethings. But they became internet famous first through their time-travelling band videos, and then through their Autotune the News series! If you haven’t seen any of their videos before definitely be sure to check them out– AFTER the readathon, of course.

Keep up the good work, everyone! And don’t forget you can email me if you’re having trouble with something! The readathon email is deweyreadathon at gmail.

Mini-Challenges
The Bookish Crossword Puzzle mini-challenge hosted by Samantha Jo starting now! Fill out the bookish crossword puzzle and you could win a copy of The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter or another book (up to $10) from The Book Depository!

Winners Announced
This time I get to pick a random Facebook participant to win a prize! And I (randomly) choose: Jessi! Wahoo! Congrats! Pick a prize from the prize list and email your choice to Vasilly at 1330vblog at gmail.

Keep on rolling with the prizes: The Book Origami mini-challenge has a winner, and it’s Shannon! Congratulations! Pick a prize from the prize list and email your choice to Vasilly at 1330vblog at gmail.

Hour 10

I only had the one lolcat picture so from here on out it’s interesting Youtube videos. This one’s sure to either wake you up with its awesomeness or put you into a trance. So, y’know. Be careful?

Meanwhile, how are y’all doing with your reading? Still on top of things or have you been sucked into reading the #readathon tweets for half an hour?

India asked in the last post’s comments what I was reading– well, technically I’m not participating in the readathon beyond my cohosting duties (and a bit of unofficial cheerleading), but I started reading The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale earlier! Too busy refreshing email/blog/Twitter now to actually continue to read it, of course…

Mini-Challenges
Recreate the Cover is being hosted for the next three hours by Shel and Monica of The Hungry Readers! It sounds very exciting– basically you have to recreate a cover image of one of the books you’re reading for the ‘thon using only what you have around the house.

Winners Announced
What’s that? I get to pick MORE random commenters of the hour to win fabulous prizes? Yes! I do! And those winners are Muse, Melissa, Charlotte, and Stormi! Congratulations to all of you! Pick a prize from the prize list and email your choice to Vasilly at 1330vblog at gmail.

The Book Boyfriend Matchmaker mini-challenge’s winner info is just a bit late, but I’ll update this post whenever I get it.
Update! The winner of the Book Boyfriend Matchmaker is Cathy! Congratulations!

Hour 9

Hello, everyone! I’m your newest cohost, Anastasia of Birdbrain(ed) Book Blog! This is my first time cohosting anything and I’m very excited. When I was prepping for my posts I realized I needed at least two things: interesting Youtube videos and lolcat pictures. So here’s a lolcat picture:

funny pictures of cats with captions

Did it cheer you up? More importantly, I know that hour 9 is generally when the near-midpoint lag starts to set in. Are you all feeling energized? Have you been taking breaks to refresh and refuel?

Mini-Challenges
Terri of BrownGirl BookSpeak is hosting the In Other Words mini-challenge this hour. Participants have to guess the book title given to them in CODE. Well. It’s sort of a code– go check out the post to see what I mean, and you could win a book of your choice from The Book Depository!

Winners Announced
Yay, the first prize I get to pick myself! It’s random commenter of the hour, Erin! Congratulations! Pick a prize from the prize list and email your choice to Vasilly at 1330vblog at gmail.

The Oldies But Goodies mini-challenge has winners, and those winners are Savs and Simplerpastimes! And two more surprise winners: Amanda and Jillian! Woohoo! Please email Allie to claim your prizes.
