Read-A-Thon Wrap-Up

Phew! It’s just about a week after the Read-A-Thon began and I think I might almost be recovered. How about you? I absolutely love the Read-A-Thon and I’m so glad that all of you participated.

If you won a prize from our prize list and you haven’t claimed it yet, please make sure you do so by contacting 1330vblog at gmail by Sunday. That’s the deadline. We don’t want you to miss out! And to go along with that, we’re in dire need of prize angels, because as it stands right now, we don’t have enough funds to send all of the international winners their prizes. So, if you can spare a buck, please click the donate button below. Thank you!

We’ve already picked out the date for the next Read-A-Thon, so mark your calendars for OCTOBER 22, 2011. Noon, GMT.

We’re looking for volunteers for the marketing committee for October’s ‘thon, and we’re going to get going on that in about a month, making contact with as many people as we can to get the Read-A-Thon as much exposure as we can. So, if you’re talented and willing in these areas, please email deweyreadathon at gmail and let us know you’re willing to help.

Finally, the total number of books read and reported during the Read-A-Thon was 669. Whoa! You guys rocked it! The book read the most times was City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare, with 4 of you reading it. The entire list is embedded below, and next ‘thon, we’ll ask you for a little more information about the books. We’ll still keep it super-fast and super-simple though so that we don’t cut into your reading time.

THANK YOU for making the April 2011 Read-A-Thon a success! You guys rock!

♥,

Shesten

HOUR 24!

Ummm, it is HOUR 24! You should be jumping up and down and squealing for joy if you have made it this far. I’ll wait while you do that.

But can you believe that there is just one more hour to go? It means that the end is near and that you have survived another readathon! Bravo to you!

Personally, I cannot wait to crawl back into bed, so I am sure that I will be doing that sooner rather than later (I do have to work in…5 hours). But it has been a blast spending the last few hours with you guys. You are all great! I am so proud that so many of you chose to stay up the whole time!

Mini-Challenges

The mini-challenge for this hour is to fill out the end of event survey and link it back here. We’ll choose a winner later on! Here are the questions you need to answer:

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
5. How many books did you read?
6. What were the names of the books you read?
7. Which book did you enjoy most?
8. Which did you enjoy least?
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

Winners Announced

We have a winner from the Picturrific contest. Congrats to Vamps R Us! Pick a prize from the prize list and email your choice to Vasilly at 1330vblog at gmail.

You guys, look up there! it says HOUR 23. You know what that means? It means you are SOCLOSE to being done! What an acheivement and I am so happy to see so many of you still awake! :)

That being said, you’re either going to love or hate this picture. Me? I kind of want to see what happens if I try to remove a whole row. :)

Think it’ll fall on my head? :)

Right now I have a big mug of tea and a cat trying to crawl into my lap. He doesn’t understand that now is not the time for cuddles.

I am so impressed by how many people are still up – great job!!  Allie from A Literary Odyssey will be taking you home through the final hours of the Read a Thon – welcome Allie!

Mini-Challenges

Picturrific - Memory is the host and here is the description:

As a participant in the Picturiffic Mini-Challenge, you’ll hunt around on the internet for a picture (or pictures) that somehow reminds you of the book you’re currently reading. You should avoid the easy route, like cover art or film stills (if the book has been adapted for film or TV), but otherwise, anything goes. You can choose a portrait that reminds you one of the characters, a photograph that makes you think of the setting, or even a collage of found images that highlight particular themes, if you’re feeling ambitious. You should also post a brief explanation (1-2 sentences) of why you chose that particular image and how it relates to the text.

Hi to the Readers!  It’s Vasilly and I guess I’m hosting the read-a-thon for a little while.

Hour 17 – midnight in NYC – is upon us!  I am not really a heavy metal fan but thought “2 Minutes to Midnight” by Iron Maiden was appropriate (given the hour) and upbeat enough now that we are 17 hours into the Read a Thon
