The October 2009 round of Dewey’s Read-a-Thon is officially over!
I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and be sure to subscribe to this blog’s feed so you can see our wrap-up post later, as well as our announcement of the dates for the next one!
This is the final hour! Can you believe another round of Dewey’s Read-a-Thon is almost over? It’s been great, and thanks so much to all the participants!
And, because it’s so true, our final song for the read-a-thon is: “Hard Day’s Night” from the Beatles!
For this hour, please answer the End of Event meme on your blog, then come back here and add your specific post’s link to Mr. Linky. We’ll draw 2 inners; one will get 5 books while the other gets the Hatchette bundle. Meme:
1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
5. How many books did you read?
6. What were the names of the books you read?
7. Which book did you enjoy most?
8. Which did you enjoy least?
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
Edited to Add: Sometimes it takes a few seconds or refreshes for your link to appear in Mr. Linky. Give it at least a minute or two before you decide there’s a problem.
Also, if you think you’re in the running for most pages read or most time spend reading, include your numbers via this form, and we’ll announce the winners later.
Finally, if you were a participant in any way (reader or cheerleader!) please e-mail us (deweyreadathon AT gmail) your vote for Most Enthusiastic Cheerleader (make that the subject).
Thanks again everyone! I hope you all had a WONDERFUL time! I know that I did!

A big round of applause for Nymeth, the marvelous co-host of the last six hours! And now it’s my (Eva’s) turn; I’ll be seeing you through to the bitter end. And I couldn’t be more excited!
We’re six hours from the end, and I know it can be hard to push through. I also know when I’m tired, nothing wakes me up faster than awesome music that makes me want to sing out loud and jump around. So each update, I’ll be providing you a Youtube music video to enjoy (if you wish)! Do not judge my taste in music. :p And if you have anything you’d love to here, tell me in a comment and I’ll add it!
Our musical guest this hour: Aretha Franklin with “Respect”

So allow me to tell you how fantastic you’ve all been so far, and also that I hope you enjoy the last stretch of the read-a-thon! If you’ve made it this far, surely you can make it until the very end
This hour we’d like to ask those of you who are raising money for charity to enter your name in the Mr Linky below. This means you have until the end of the event to enter yourselves here:
But that’s not all! Shanra also has a mini-challenge for you. It’s called Write a Drabble, and the winner will get an “Essential Tolkien” audio CD, a small donation to Oxfam in their name, and a home-made origami bookmark. (Shanra was kind enough to make one for me, and I can promise they’re lovely!)
How are you all doing? This hour’s two mini-challenges are Nicki’s Dance-a-thon and Lynn’s Give me Five mini-challenge. Nicki’s dancers will get a itunes gift certificate, and Lynn’s winners a $15 e-Bay gift certificate.
Winners:
The winners of the Mid-event survey are: Valerie (who gets an attaché full of books and a chocolate monkey) and Monica (who gets a Hachette bundle of books). Congratulations!
